And he rode upon that starship to a place no man had ever been. Upon arrival, he surveyed the scene and realized that this place may have been made by the Skaarj or the Nali as a temporary outpost for refueling and such. But it was deserted now and how could it be, for it could make a great arena for sport. Between a red planet and a nebula with a shining star and small moons, the setting would be perfect. He reported back to Liandri Corporation and a new arena was created for all to participate in the Deathmatch.

This low-gravity space map is the first map by TRigGeR^HaPpY and he suggests a player load of 4 - 10 in the in-game screenshot, but nothing mentioned in the text file. This could get a bit hectic with 10 players and the weapons might become scarce. I would suggest 4 - 8 players on this one.

There is a lot of z-axis action combined with jumping and floating in space on this map. The bots go for all the weapons, ammo and powerups without any difficulty; although, they fall way too easily off this space outpost. I initially thought it was rather easy to stay on the station, but I have my air control set to 50%. It seems this doesn't translate to the bots too well. They do travel every inch of this map, but constantly lose frags by space-death suicide, even on Godlike, and this extends the match continuously with bots only. They also seem to get stuck at very rare moments. Better play can be had with humans only.

The rotation effect is well-done with this map. I liked the star/sun shining on the red planet with the nebula and gives the whole experience of this map a boost. I especially liked the addition of the satellite/deathstar/moon objects in the background. The only problem is it's hard to tell what is in the dark area of the red planet except just a shadow; it seems there is more though. Also, the red planet has streaks all over it's surface that are obviously there from the creation of the texture. The simple browns and grays over most of the station keep the frame rates down. The lighting on this map is everywhere and make it an easy station to find your way around; if you don't know where you're going, then you must be falling to your untimely demise. The pink and white lights, as well as the star/sun, seem to keep this place well-lit. Some lights seem ill-defined and could have been brushed better.

The weapons and ammo are scattered nicely all over the map and there seems to be something on every level for someone. There's plenty of health as well as armor and thigh pads. The invisibility, shield belt and Udamage are in the center on 3 different levels and sometimes it can be a mad dash to get them. The jump boots always come in handy on this low gravity map and can get you up to the top from each level quickly.

The flow on this map is only broken up when you fall off; otherwise, it has great connectivity and playability. The portals on this map can transport you to the top, bottom and far side very quickly. No frame rate hits were observed on my P3-500. I noticed some subtle blinking red and blue lights on this map. Could this mean a CTF map could be on the way? Maybe with flags on the very bottom of two of these maps with portals and a large central area between them? Just an idea. More maps by TRigGeR^HaPpY can be found here.

Bottom Line: A low gravity map with great flow, nice atmosphere, mediocre bot support, and plain textures. It is good first effort and deserves a download.
