OK, another UT DM map right? Wrong! DM-Mausoleum is a keeper from the opening bell, literally. It's the first thing I noticed which is rare for a map, especially an old UT DeathMatch map. But instantly you feel like you have been sent somewhere special. Deep within the decaying mountain lies the disconsolate burial chamber. Most prisoners are dead, while others hang still living while nailed to boards high upon the moldering walls. Some say they can hear screams from the still living, while others only notice the creaking of the woodwork. Becoming distracted will only help you become part of the soul-filled crypt, as other contestants in the tournament easily take your life. Enter at your own will, and beware the dangers of The Mausoleum.

The detail is excellent in this map with the writing on the walls to ambient sounds, I was pleasantly surprised at every turn. It is a much bigger map than it appears so I recommend 8 players minimum, ten is better, also because there are nice under water tunnels that you should check out for sure. The music is perfect with the chanting bells and the ambient sounds this author knew what he wanted to do and did it. It's called atmosphere people and this map has it. The lighting is also nice because, for a UT map, it looks like they are actually lighting up the area they are supposed to and this adds a nice touch. Good statue placement on the lower and upper levels. Stained glass at the end of the hallways and the light again a look like it’s coming from that window.

I felt that the game play is good, not the best, but above average for certain and it's the atmosphere that gives you that feel. It makes up for any game play issues IMO. The bars that open and lead you through the swinging ax, that will frag you if your not careful. I tested them to be sure. There are openings to pounce on opponents through or to keep an escape route possible. Weapons placement is also good. There was never more than a few seconds where I had to search out a better gun. The health bonuses were ample and well placed too. There was little that I found wrong with this map. BOT play is good for this map and will definitely challenge your skills. The bridges in this map are narrow with side drop off spaces that I used to try to escape some BOTs and to see if they would chase me and they did not. So I guess that's good for the BOTs and bad for me cause they didn't take the bait. The only drawback is the deep water leaves you vulnerable at times and it could have been shallower, but it's the same for everyone who plays so it's nothing to scream about. Bottom Line: OWNAGE from Clark Kent on this one. Too much detail and atmosphere with good game play to miss out. This is DeathMatch at it's best. Grab this one right now and get going!!!

It IS an Unreal Tournament 1 map, CTF-Addien is for UT2K3 so theres no way you can compare.
This is a nice map btw :)

UGh!! I took one look at the screenshot on the far right, with the 2 pendulums. I have a question: When are people going to stop using such crappy resolutions on their textures when they can use up to 2048x2048 sheets comfortably now??? I mean, even a 256x256 texture would've sufficed on those columnes on either side. And if that's not good enough, a simple TexScaler would probably do the trick too! Jesus god, so much attention to detail, and this glaring thing just ruins it for me. It makes your corners show up really obviously, and basically makes your maps look like regular UT ones. Look at CTF-Addien. There's an example of how to do textures. You can't walk up to any surface and see a pixellated mass of crap. Just my 2 cents.
